Venezuela opposition denounces government's plan to foster "radical violence"

Spokespersons for opposition parties Acción Democrática (AD), Primero Justicia and Copei accused, in separate statements, the government of President Hugo Chávez of promoting violence to justify repression, rarefy the pre-electoral environment and worsen poor governance. They also criticize the location of armored vehicles and policemen near universities.

President of AD Víctor Bolívar denounced a plan of "radical violence" prepared by the government of Hugo Chávez against the media, journalists, politicians, unions, civil organizations and universities. "It is a Devil's plan to subdue people by force and intimidation," he said. Meanwhile, secretary general of Copei Alejandro Vivas said that the government's crackdown on the opposition will be useless.
